GAINESVILLE, Florida. – The city of Gainesville is opening its cold-weather accommodations for a few cool nights to come.
City officials said they anticipate severe weather conditions, including temperatures below 45 degrees, from Friday evening through Monday.
The program is called Cold Night Shelter and aims to provide shelter to families, women and children in need.
The program usually runs from November 1st to March 31st.
Officials said in a press release that “St. Francis House and GRACE Marketplace at the Empowerment Center will offer cold night shelter services to people in need of shelter as long as night temperatures stay below 45 degrees Fahrenheit.”
