Charlie Ward and Eric Grant reappointed to the Tallahassee Community College board of directors

A Tallahassee attorney whose firm makes it easier to look up city laws and a retired New York Knicks player are returning to the Tallahassee Community College District Board, Gov. Ron DeSantis“Announced the office on late Friday.

Charlie Ward, a former point guard for the New York Knicks, and Eric Grant, President of Municode, a platform for the development of city laws, were both reappointed to new terms. The leadership was honored in May when the school, with 38,017 students, was named one of the top 10 folk high schools in the country Aspen Institute, a Washington, DC-based think tank.

The award recognizes achievements in teaching and study, completion of certificates and courses, success in the workforce and fair results for all students. Your school was selected from 1,000 community colleges.

Grant has served on the board of the Community College since at least 2019. In addition to serving as President of Municode, Grant is a Marine Corps veteran. He graduated from the US Naval Academy, earned a masters degree from Georgetown University, and his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law.

His community engagement includes serving as the board secretary of the Community Foundation of North Florida, a nonprofit organization, and as a board member of the United Way of the Big Bend. He is also a member of the Young President’s Organization, a Texas-based leadership community of chief executives.

Ward, who earned 3,947 career points and 1,648 career rebounds during his career with the Knicks, is now the head coach of Florida State University Schools’ Florida High boys basketball team. In 2005 he retired.

Before basketball there was soccer. In 1993 he won the Heisman Trophy and led the FSU to the national championship in the same year.

He lives in Tallahassee with his wife and three children.
