College football, big bend preparations spark the banter in the Greatness Barbershop

College football, big bend preparations spark the banter in the Greatness Barbershop

Chop Shop is a weekly summer show with commentary on hot local and national sports topics from barber shops. This week’s debates came from the hairdressers at Greatness Barbershop.

The barbershop is more than a place to get a haircut, line up, or beard cut. It’s a social lounge with open and unfiltered conversations about everything from politics to personal matters.

In this mix, sports debates are a frequent topic of conversation.

The banter encompasses all areas with passionate opinions, predictions of a season and trash talk that teams favor or dismiss.

Aaron Wright will have his hair cut in the Greatness Barbershop on Saturday, July 24th, 2021 and will talk to Nephew the Barber about sports. Wright is a fan of the Miami Hurricanes. Nephew the Barber's favorite teams are Florida A&M and Rickards High School.

Greatness Barbershop – located at 1350 E. Mahan Drive – fits that bill with an eclectic mix of fans. Last weekend, the barbers and patrons shared passionate comments from the legacy of former Florida State coach Bobby Bowden to Big Bend Preps Football.

FSU vs. Miami: “Chris (Bailey) is a fan of the Miami Hurricanes. Bless his heart. We still pray for him. He lives in sin. We may be quiet now, but they have been quiet for eight years or so.”

Legacy of Bobby Bowden: “Bobby Bowden is a man of faith and honor. He’s helped many people. Everyone has flaws. But when it comes to football, Bobby Bowden is one of the greatest of all time.”
