FSU adds two recruits from Miami in 2022 for offensive, defensive tackle

FSU adds two recruits from Miami in 2022 for offensive, defensive tackle

After almost a month’s hiatus, personal recruiting resumed on Sunday.

The Florida State football team started that brief contact time with a bang, landing a pair of 2022 signings from Miami prospects in minutes on Sunday afternoon.

Miami Central three-star defender Daughtry Richardson announced his decision just after 3 p.m., and the three-star Homestead defense fight, which Daniel Lyons signed during a visit to FSU on Sunday.

Richardson, a 6-foot-4, 285-pound offensive tackle, announced his decision on his Twitter account on Sunday, picking the Seminoles over Miami, Kentucky and Arizona State. He also held offers from Florida, Oregon, Tennessee, and West Virginia.

The FSU got on early with Richardson and offered him last July. This seemed to be paying off, coupled with his official visit to FSU last month. In June he also made official visits to Miami, Kentucky and the state of Arizona.

According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Richardson is the No. 452 overall recruit, the No. 44 offensive tackle, and the No. 60 Florida player in the 2022 class. He is also the fifth offensive lineman to join the 2022 class of the Seminoles, four of which were committed in the last month.

Four of the five FSU offensive line commits for 2022 fall into the top 500 of the 247Sports Composite rankings.

Richardson falls behind Antavious Woody, Qaeshon Sapp and Aliou Bah in the FSU class 2022, but ahead of Kanaya Charlton, who is not yet ranked by all recruiting services.

Richardson was a bit of a journeyman throughout his high school career. He played for Tallahassee Godby in 2019 before playing for Miami Edison last season. Now he’s going to play his senior season at Miami Central.

Lyons, a 6-foot-4, 270-pound contender picked the Seminoles because of heavy interest from Florida, Miami, and Ole Miss. He made a commitment on his second visit in as many months and visited in early June shortly after visits to Florida and Miami.

He is the # 453 overall candidate and # 67 defensive lineman in the 2022 class and the FSU’s fourth defensive line commit for 2022.

On Sunday, FSU had no players from Dade County in their 2022 class and only one from South Florida, Fort Lauderdale Dillard wide receiver Devaughn Mortimer. With two Dade recruits to the Seminoles and a few other highly acclaimed South Florida prospects considering the FSU, that number could rise in the next few months.

With Richardson and Lyons, the FSU’s 2022 class now has 17 members and is ranked seventh-best in the country, two places after jumping in Oregon and Alabama
