Summary: Inter Miami CF 1, Philadelphia Union 1

Summary: Inter Miami CF 1, Philadelphia Union 1

Przybylko’s sixth goal of the season defeated Robbie Robinson’s second of the year with less than 20 minutes remaining, leading Miami’s winless run to seven games.

Philadelphia tried to score an early goal when Daniel Gazdag forced Nick Marsman into a save in the third minute. Then, just before fifteen minutes, the Union almost scored the 1-0 through Przybylko when Alejandro Bedoya passed a nice ball to the Philadelphia striker, but his shot went wide.

Miami saw several opportunities of their own after Przybylko’s miss. Federico Higuain almost paired up with younger brother Gonzalo for Miami’s opener, but the chance went dead. Then, just before half an hour, Lewis Morgan’s chip on the far post was held off Jacob Glesnes’s head. The hosts had one last chance just before stoppage time in the first half when Gonzalo Higuain tried to cross Kieran Gibbs at the far post but instead found the feet of Robinson, unable to properly touch the ball.

There was some controversy in the 55th minute when Morgan appeared to have tripped off a Philadelphia defender in the penalty area. However, a brief video review review found that no illegal act had been committed, as Miami fines led to nowhere.

But Miami finally had a breakthrough in the 71st minute when Robinson’s near post attempt after a terrific touch from Gonzalo Higuain distracted Matt Freese’s hand to 1-0. The two would have combined for a second goal almost two minutes later when Robinson missed a brace by inches.

Fort Lauderdale sentiment was clouded by a late Philadelphia goal when a cross deflected in front of Marsman’s net and pocketed by Przybylko in the 85th minute. Despite the offside roll calls, the gate stood after the inspection.
