Many disappointed after the Cape Coral COVID-19 test site closed without explanation

Many disappointed after the Cape Coral COVID-19 test site closed without explanation

CAPORAL

People who showed up for a COVID-19 test at a location in southwest Florida were faced with a locked door even after operations continued.

The Cape Coral Healing Site said it will stop giving COVID-19 vaccines at its location, but said it will remain open for testing.

When people showed up on Wednesday, the door to the test facility on Cultural Park Boulevard was locked.

We reached out to Curative and a spokesman told us the organization was investigating this.

The curative COVID-19 test site on Cultural Park Boulevard in Cape Coral was unexpectedly closed on Wednesday, July 21, 2021. Many people who had made appointments at the proving site were disappointed to arrive at the facility and receive the message that can be seen on the front door as above. Photo credit: WINK NEWS.

A sign on the door of the building said the closure was due to unexpected circumstances, but it wasn’t what about two dozen people wanted to see when they got there for testing during the day.

“They let me log in maybe an hour ago,” said Britton Ellis. “I used my previous ID. They brought it up and had all of my records, the VA information, and they gave me a list of 35 appointments for today. So I chose one. “

When Ellis reached the construction site, he could not enter the building and there was no one there, only a sign told him that his test appointment would not be on Wednesday.

“It’s kind of frustrating for her to close,” said Britton. “Electronically it should be pretty easy to pull these down, and they didn’t. So I’m out here wondering where to go next to get tested. “

Ellis was not alone in his disappointment. We saw a handful of people arrive that afternoon only to turn and leave in frustration.

“When you go online it says it’s open,” said Irene Lewis, who was also dismissed on the website.

“Now if you’ve been exposed to someone who’s been tested or is sick … and you’ve been exposed to them and they didn’t know and you didn’t know, then people are being tested,” said Wally Ilczyszyn.

Ilczyszyn didn’t have an appointment. He wanted to take a walk-in test, so he’ll have to wait.

The day was disappointing for anyone wanting to calm down on COVID-19 and the emerging delta variant of the coronavirus.

“I want to protect others,” said Ellis. He called Curative customer care and someone on the other end told him the site should be open again on Thursday.

We’re still waiting for Curative to let us know if this is the case.
