Miami Dade commissioners isolated with COVID-19 ask the community for a vaccination

MIAMI – Two Miami-Dade County Commissioners who recently tested positive for COVID-19 remain in isolation.

Jose ‘Pepe’ Diaz is the chairman of the Miami-Dade County Commission, but he has been home on hiatus for the past week and a half.

Diaz and his chief of staff both tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this month.

“Yes, it surprised me, I won’t put it any other way,” he said.

Miami-Dade’s colleague Joe Martinez is also recovering from the illness that beat him after testing positive last week.

“Neck pain, headache, fever for about 2 days,” Martinez said. “The worst thing I had was a stuffy nose, which I still have. There was back pain right where the lungs are. It was so bad that I couldn’t even get dressed. “

Both district leaders believe the vaccine saved them from a much more serious fate.

On Wednesday, the booth had a message to the community about the use of masks in public and to the people who are still on the fence for an injection, say medical experts of the population behind the recent surge in COVID-19 Pay.

“It won’t go away,” said Martinez. “Not right now anyway, and one of the best ways to do that is to get vaccinated and when in doubt, wear the mask.”
