See 'Romeo and Juliet in America' outdoors in Williams Park in St. Petersburg

Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare is perhaps the most famous tragedy in literature. But what if things had turned out differently? That is the premise of the American Stage production of Romeo and Juliet in America (The One With the Happy Ending), which opens on Thursday in Williams Park in St. Petersburg.

In this retelling, two young lovers caught between their warring families navigate their relationship through “party blasts, street fights and secret encounters” with plot twists that end in a new conclusion, “where love can just conquer anything”.

A preview performance will take place on Wednesday with tickets between $ 20 and $ 25. Production runs until August 1st. The play is recommended for viewers aged 12 and over. It contains adult situations, violence, and topics of sex and suicide. As part of American Stage’s Next Generation Initiative, everyone up to the age of 20 receives free entry. The production will be streamed online for members of the American Stage following the piece.

Guests should bring their own blanket to sit in the park or a chair to sit behind the ceiling seats. No discounts are offered, but you are welcome to bring your own food and soft drinks. If a performance is canceled due to the weather, tickets for another performance will be given.
