Nicholas Petit-Frere is the first student athlete to sign an advertising contract

TAMPA, Florida. – With the stroke of a pen, Nicholas Petit-Frere changed the history of college football.
“It was just an amazing moment to be able to use my talents and my athletic and academic skills to make a profit,” he said during an interview from Columbus, Ohio.
When the NCAA changed its rules on Wednesday to allow athletes to sell their likenesses, Dianna Paxton immediately saw potential in the 6’5 “Ohio State lineman competing in Berkeley Prep in Tampa.
Her Tampa-based recruiting firm, Flix CV, needed the perfect social media pitchman.
Former Berkeley prep standout Nicholas Petit-Frere, now of Ohio State University, has signed an advertising contract with a Tampa-based recruiting company
“He’s protecting the quarterback, and my technology helps keep companies from making bad decisions, making bad hiring decisions,” she said.
It’s also a new world for coaches like Evan Davis at Seffner’s Armwood High. He loves the new avenue for gamers but helps them read the fine print when asked about it.
“As a high school coach, you have to protect your kids,” said Davis. “There are a lot of people out there who don’t have the best for the children in mind.”
Kye Stokes – with a GPA of 5.5 – is a senior at Armwood and will follow Petit-Frere in the state of Ohio. He wonders if someday he will be spoken to.
“I don’t want to represent anything that makes my name look bad, just positive things,” said Stokes.
The experiences of Stokes and Frere show how wide the possibilities will be. With so many local and national media platforms, students in any position, in any sport, in divisions one through three could be targeted.
“I just want to make sure I do my best to do everything right so I can create a legacy so that people can learn from me,” said Petit-Frere.
