Chris Godwin’s future? The best playoff matches for Tampa Bay? Bucs Mailbag – The Athletic

Chris Godwin's future? The best playoff matches for Tampa Bay? Bucs Mailbag - The Athletic

This is a good week to open up that old Bucs mailbag and answer your questions. It’s a short week, from Monday Night Football to a Sunday on the street, so everything is compact and it’s easy to check in with you and your curiosity.

I can answer a ton of questions on Twitter, but this is a great way to provide more in-depth answers and I want to find out what you are asking yourself about as a collective group, what you are worried about, and what you are looking to do in the future. We’ll try to do this more regularly for the rest of the season. In the meantime, Happy Thanksgiving!

Note: The questions have been edited for length and clarity.

What is the schedule for Carlton Davis’ return? – Kiran R.

That question got a little easier on Wednesday morning when the Bucs made him return to training and opened a 21-day window where he could be activated for the 53-man roster. It’s a short week, with really only one full workout (Thursday), so it’s harder for him to show enough for the coaches to be confident he can get back in. So it would be nice to have him back in Indianapolis on Sunday, but it’s more likely he’ll return next week when the Bucs play in Atlanta. I think Sean Murphy-Bunting’s healthy return will make it less of a urgency for Davis to get out and maybe give him another week to recover more fully.

What, in our opinion, are the best and worst matchups for the Bucs this postseason? Not to outperform ourselves, but given our placement in the division, I’m starting to look at the postseason. – Curtis S.
