“You see, no doubt, the past few years have been very tough for the individual, family, community and state,” said Mayor Dailey. “I found it important to celebrate and acknowledge these great citizens and neighbors who did everything in these troubled times, and it was a great ceremony.”
Chris Petley, President of Tallahassee Soccer Club, and Monique VanPelt, CEO of Second Harvest, were two of the winners of the Tallahassee Awards tonight.

“This is more than a football club,” said Petley. “We played our first game in May when I think we were still in the middle of it. Eleven hundred people came to our game and I don’t think anyone saw the game. It was one of the first big events to be held became.” in town and it was so great to see neighbors talking to neighbors and friends coming back to talk to fiends. “
“Awards like these are really only possible in communities that support and openly rent out people, who have creative ideas and want to find solutions to really complicated problems,” said VanPelt.
Other winners for today’s award include Royle King of The Omega Lamplighters, Talethia Edwards of the Greater Bond Neighborhood Association, and Aurora Hansen of the Asian Coalition of Tallahassee.
