“Grateful for making the trip” – Gainesville fans see Braves in person at the clinch

He had been to the World Series in 1992, 1995 and 1999, but was not able to witness a series win for his team until Tuesday.

Talley attended Game 1 of the 1995 World Series and had tickets to Game 7, but the Braves completed the series in six games against the Cleveland Indians.

“I’m definitely grateful for making the trip and being able to take part in the experience,” said Talley.

When Yuli Gurriel finished the ball, Freeman intercepted the throw at first base, put the ball in his pocket, and manager Brian Snitker’s club began to party.

A full hour after the game, hundreds of Braves fans huddled behind the dugout of the team’s third base continued on, causing loud echoes to bounce around the ballpark.

About 700 miles away in the suburb of Truist Park, thousands of fans flocked to the Braves house to roar.

The Braves were minor in the summer heat in the land of the Giants, White Sox, and Dodgers, but great in the Fall Classics.

“This is the toughest team I’ve ever been on,” said Shortstop Swanson.

In the end nothing could stop her. Not a broken leg that starter Charlie Morton suffered at the start of the World Series. Not a big lead in game 5.

Side by side with 66-year-old Snitker, an organizer for four decades, outsider Braves won the franchise’s fourth title.

“You never gave up on yourself,” he said on a victory platform after the game. “We lost a lot of parts over the summer and it was just the next man.”

General Manager Alex Anthopoulos, the architect of the Braves midseason turnaround, missed this crowning achievement after testing positive for COVID-19. He was back home for the clincher.

The title also paid homage to the greatest Braves player of them all. Hank Aaron died on January 22nd at the age of 86 and was still moving for his old team, and The Hammer’s legacy was engraved throughout this series.

“Nobody wanted to let Hank down,” said Snitker. “It was just like that.”
