The interpreter and family end up in southwest Florida, only narrowly escaping the Taliban

Here in southwest Florida a man from Afghanistan has landed who risked his life for a Cape Coral veteran. This interpreter arrived at RSW on Wednesday morning.

The chances of escaping Afghanistan seemed slim, but they were able. It was an emotional reunion for this family.

The Afghan we call “Frank”, his wife and five children were grateful for so much on the day before Thanksgiving, including their health, happiness and living escape from Afghanistan.

On the same day that 13 American soldiers and 60 Afghans were killed in an explosion, this family was at the airport in Kabul.

Frank says that the Taliban can do anything. “You go to the same place, a lot of Taliban are shooting randomly everywhere. They can just grab you and hit you in some way and shoot you, you know? he said.

That’s why he’s grateful to be on American soil. “Well, I consider myself so lucky. So lucky to be able to make it and come to the USA, ”said Frank. He thinks it is “some kind of miracle”.

Frank’s daughter Aisha was forced to marry into the Taliban in order to realize her dream of becoming a heart surgeon.

And Frank’s sons: Shahabudin, Hatim, Omer and Sheer were already so many. The Taliban beat Sheer, who was only nine years old, at the airport in Kabul.

Sheer says it was a painful experience, but when asked if he was happy to be in the US, he said “yes”.

Now this family is safe. Thanks to Cape Coral veteran Aaron Forum, whose tireless efforts saved their lives. His ongoing work is something the family should be grateful for before that first Thanksgiving in America.

“So I’m grateful and grateful for my knees, my friends, and also for the people … for the people in the United States of America who are letting us in. To come here to America and make America our second home, “said Frank.

So far, Frank and his family have been staying in hotels for extended stays. When asked what they hoped they would be included in their first Thanksgiving spread, one of Frank’s sons said “pizza”.
