One Halloween in the late 80s, my boyfriend decided to enter a costume contest at a local pub in Tallahassee on October 31st. Almost everyone else went the ingenious route with Frankenstein’s Monster or The Mummy or Vampira.
My buddy David, who threw up his costume at the last minute, took a more, say, minimalist approach. He wrapped a towel around his head as if he had wet hair, covered his face with thick cold cream, wrapped his upper body in another towel and put on a pair of fluffy bathing shoes. Ta-da. Complete.

The woman who comes out of the shower won the grand prize.
Sometimes simplicity, everyday life or a little current creativity are required when it comes to Halloween costumes.
Here are a few ideas for Halloween 2021:
THE TRI-DELTAS: No, I’m sorry, not the college sisters. This is a combo record featuring Delta 8 (a legal THC substance that is causing a stir), Delta Burke (a former Miss Florida actress who appeared on the sitcom “Designing Women”) and Delta Variant (a highly transmissible strain of the COVID.). -19 virus). Just put on a big-shouldered dress (the Delta Burke portion), pin packets of Delta 8 all over the fabric, and top it off with a motorcycle helmet that has trumpet-like horns to top off a round viral spore resemble.
FLORIDA STATE UNIVERSITY SEMINOLES FOOTBALL PLAYERS: Wear a white soccer jersey that has been run over with muddy tires multiple times. The Clemson game on October 30th should help make the costume more contemporary.
BLUE PRINT GUY: Recently, the intergovernmental Blueprint Agency voted to give about $ 20 million to FSU’s Doak Campbell Stadium instead of splitting it up for small loans to local business owners, for example. Why not wear a fancy business suit and a name tag that says “Blueprint Guy” before you go trick or treating? When someone hands out a candy, take the treat, then charge $ 5 to take it.
WAREHOUSE WORKERS FROM TALLAHASSEE AMAZON: Ring the doorbell. When the candy offer arrives, say the following: “Sorry, my five-minute break is over. Must go. I have to fulfill another package contingent. “
FRONTLINE HOSPITAL IS MEDICAL WORKER: Wear scrubs and plastic shoes. Don’t forget the hairnet and medical mask. Draw the frame of the glasses in red around the eyebrows, forehead, bridge of the nose and cheeks. Use dark eyeliner on bags under the eyes. Sit in a corner and act like shocked.
WILLIAM SHATNER IN THE ROOM: Your best Capt. Kirk clothes and an astronaut helmet. For additional authenticity, speak completely in the foreign language Esperanto (a homage to Shatner’s Esperanto-only film “Incubus”).
MARE FROM EASTTOWN: Dress dirty in drab, lumpy clothes. Wear a gray scarf. Look emaciated. Every now and then, blink a detective badge. Open a Rolling Rock beer bottle and vape stick. Speak in a Pennsylvania accent that is so fuzzy it is downright incomprehensible. From time to time, have someone come around and present an Emmy that says “Well done Kate Winslet”.
BLAH-HAUS SCHOOL FOR ARCHITECTURE SALUTE: Pay homage to the myriad of lackluster apartment buildings, empty storefronts, and hotels that are popping up in the city by decorating a box that was once used to ship a refrigerator.
FREE REACH BRITNEY: After 39-year-old entertainer Britney Spears suspended her father from a conservatory and marked the legal victory with a nude photo, Britney is all the rage again. Why not worship at this altar? This includes shaving off all head hair, wearing a skimpy outfit without underwear, using an umbrella as a battering ram and disinterested, wooden dancing. Celebrate like 2007.
PETULANTES BABY: Requires a hat, a pacifier and a large cloth diaper. There is a sign around his neck that reads: “Unvaccinated against the pandemic”. Write on the diaper, “Give me freedom or give me death. Mostly death. ”Remember, no masks, Halloween or anything else, are allowed.
